Jackie Berridge lives and works from her home studio in the rural town of Southwell, Nottinghamshire. She graduated in 1995 with a BA in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University specialising in abstract painting and drawing. Her work took a new direction when she embarked on an MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art (Anglian Ruskin University) when her paintings became more figurative.
Jackie has been the recipient of many prizes, including the Maude Gemmell Hutchinson prize at Royal Scottish Academy in 2022 where she was one of four invited artists to participate in the RSA annual exhibition. Two years later she was awarded the W Gordon Smith & Jay Gordonsmith Award , RSA 2024. A number of residencies have provided rich pickings for Jackie's work, in particular the fully funded Artcore residency in Baroda, India. The colours and patterns of Indian miniatures were inspirational and she found the landscape fascinating. She created drawings for the Arts Centre collection as well as giving a talk to students at the art school. Closer to home a residency at Winchester School allowed Jackie to experience a different landscape. As well as delivering workshops she made drawings which are now in the school's collection. Other residencies include experiences in Chicago, Nottingham Trent University and Frances Bardsley school.Forthcoming is a residency in Italy on Lake Garda. November 2024 In 2007 she set up and managed Harrington Mill Studios and gallery in Long Eaton, Nottingham where she organised and curated exchanges and exhibitions locally, nationally and internationally in Sweden, Greece, Chicago and France. Although HMS closed in 2018 she continues to participate in Platforms Projects, an artist-led art fair in Athens.
